She became famous after being the first one to land an arrow during the extermination of the Calydonian Boar. She is also included as a member of the Argonautai, which assembled brave heroes from all over Greece. Atalanta was the daughter of the king of a certain country, but she was shunned by her father - who desired a son - and was abandoned in a forest. Feeling pity, the goddess Artemis made a female bear give her milk and raise the girl. Upon reaching adulthood, Atalanta became a peerless huntress and went on many adventures - such as the extermination of the Calydonian Boar and participation in the Argonautai. When suitors began to rush for her hand, the troubled Atalanta decided to hold a foot race. Although Atalanta would not lose to any man in a race, she fell to the cowardly scheme of a man who borrowed the help of a goddess and ended up half-forcibly getting married. Afterwards, it was said that she was turned into a lion as punishment, but it is unclear. The bow she carries, Tauropolos - Heavenly Bow, received the blessings of the goddess Artemis and is her weapon of choice. By offering a prayer to Artemis and her brother, the Sun God Apollo, she invokes a powerful Anti-Army Noble Phantasm - "Letter Arrow of Complaint."
Fate/Apocrypha
The setting is a parallel world to Fate/stay night where the Greater Grail mysteriously disappeared from Fuyuki after the Third Holy Grail War. After many years of silence, around the same time as the Fifth Holy Grail War would have happened, the Yggdmillennia, a family of magi, openly declares their secession from the Mage's Association, and that they are in possession of the Grail. The Association dispatches fifty magi to retrieve it, and all but one are instantly slaughtered by a mysterious Servant. The one remaining manages to activate the reserve system of the Greater Grail, allowing for the summoning of fourteen Servants in total. In the city of Trifas, two factions will fight for the control of the sacred relic, each of them possessing their own team of seven Servants : the Black Faction whose members are part of Yggdmillennia, protecting the Grail, and the Red Faction whose members were sent by the Mage's Association, trying to take the Grail back. For an event of this scale, the Grail itself summons its own Servant, the holy Ruler, to oversee the conflict. This marks the start of the Great Holy Grail War.
Fate/Grand Order (Game)
Fate/Grand Order is an online, free-to-play role-playing mobile game developed by Delightworks using Unity, and published by Aniplex. The game is based on Type-Moon's Fate/stay night franchise, and was released in Japan on July 29, 2015 for Android, and on August 12, 2015 for iOS. The game is centered around turn-based combat where the player, who takes on the role of a "Master", summons and commands powerful familiars known as "Servants" to battle enemies. The story narrative is presented in a visual novel format, and each Servant has their own scenario which the player can explore. In 2015, the Chaldea Security Organization draws on experts of both the magical and mundane fields to observe the future of mankind for possible extinction events. Humanity's survival seems assured for the next century—until the verdict suddenly changes, and now eradication of the species awaits at the end of 2016. The cause is unknown, but appears to be linked with the Japanese town of Fuyuki and the events of 2004 during the Fifth Holy Grail War. In response, Chaldea harnesses an experimental means of time travel, the Rayshift technology. With it, Ritsuka Fujimaru (a young man or woman, depending on the player's choice of gender) was newly recruited to the organization, and a mysterious girl named Mash Kyrielight, can travel back to 2004 and discover how to save humanity. A grand order to fight fate has been declared—an order to change the past and restore the future.[12] Following the events in Fuyuki, Ritsuka Fujimaru and Mash Kyrielight must restore the Foundation of Humanity by retrieving powerful Holy Grails.
