Barbara Andrei is a character of the planned anime series Despera. She is a Russian woman who found refuge in Japan helped by Kimiyasu Fuenokōji. Barbara is from aristocratic origins. During te disownment of of the presence of Russians by the Chinese Republic, she escaped from Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang, China’s northernmost province, and took refuge in Japan. She is now living in the the Kanda-Surugadai residence owned by Kimiyasu who has taken her in.
Despera
The story centers around a 14-year-old girl named Ain, who often builds devices despite the lack of scientific background for them. This alternate history science fiction story is set in Tokyo during the Taishō era in 1922, one year before the 1923 Great Kantō earthquake.
