Erica Simmons is a senior engineer of Morgenroete, the munitions company which equips the Orb Union's armed forces. Erica is responsible for developing the M1 Astray, a new mobile suit intended for use by the Orb military, and after the Archangel reaches Orb she requests Kira Yamato's help in perfecting the M1 Astray's operating system. Though dedicated to her work, Erica is also a devoted mother to her young son Ryuta. She is also revealed to be a Coordinator.
