Gentiane is a 22 year old female commander for Griffin & Kryuger, assigned to Station 794 in Sector 09. Details on Gentiane's past are scarce, with her character sheet classifying her birth town, where she would move later in life, and where she graduated from, albeit leaving the years when each aforementioned detail occurred (2040, 2043 and 2062 respectively). She's 165cm tall, and was employed at Griffin in 2062 following her graduation. She's a character exclusive to the official Girls' Frontline Manga, first appearing in chapter 4. In the events of the manga, she is the character that represents the player commander.

Girls' Frontline is a mobile strategy game developed by MICA Team, a Chinese company. It is a moe anthropomorphism game in which the player controls echelons of characters, each of which are based on actual guns. The game was released in Mainland China on 20 May 2016, and in Hong Kong and Taiwan on 18 January 2017. It was also released in South Korea on 30 June 2017. The English version published by SUNBORN Network Technology was released on May 8, 2018. This game is a prequel of another game developed by the same company called Bakery Girls.
