The second pilot of Getter Robo, Hayato is portrayed as a psychopathic yet highly intelligent young man. He is first seen as the leader of a student revolutionary group, but is recruited by the Saotome Research Institute after a fight with Ryoma and pulled into the Getter Robo storyline, initially as the pilot of Getter-2. He is the only character to have appeared in every Getter Robo series and has fulfilled many roles, growing from unhinged teenager to an adult colonel and an aging scientist. Hayato is a cold and calm genius who is deeply devoted to the good of humanity as a whole, despite a lack of empathy for individuals. He will not hesitate to sacrifice even those close to him in order to save a much larger number.
Getter Robo: Armageddon
Dr. Saotome returns from the dead after being seemingly murdered by Getter pilot Nagare Ryoma and threatens the world with his ultimate creation: the Shin Dragon. Ryoma reluctantly teams up with his former co-pilots Jin Hayato and Tomoe Mushashi to combat Dr. Saotome. The pilots must also deal with the mysterious Invaders, aliens that have the ability to possess humans and warp their flesh to form hideous creatures.
