A patient at the Kunugihara Sanatorium. Sanae has stayed at the sanatorium since she was diagnosed with the same memory disorder as Takako. In addition to that, she has a weak constitution compared to most people. Sanae is an avid reader. No one except herself knows whether the reason why she spends all day in bed is because she doesn't feel well, or because she simply wants to read. From time to time, she works as a librarian at the library next door to the sanatorium, where she reads at the counter when no one else is around.
