Itsuki Takeuchi (also known as "Iggy"), is a 18 year old (19 in Project D) street racer from Gunma who is also Takumi's best friend; he provides the comic relief in the series, and is generally quite loud and obnoxious. Itsuki works part-time at a gas station with Takumi and Iketani. He works part-time at a gas station with Takumi and Iketani, and hopes to buy an AE86 Corolla Levin to complement Takumi's Trueno and join the Speedstars. When he mistakenly buys an inferior AE85, he gets upset until Takumi takes him for a drive and a spontaneous race, showing that the driver's skill can make a difference.
