A con-man tied with the Yakuza who shook Shibuya with his scams. Kaneshiro at first glance, appears to be a ruthless, callous, and greedy crime lord as well as a shrewd scam artist, obsessed with accumulating wealth and money and utilizing scams and debts to reap the benefit from his hapless prey. His secrecy and untouchability by law makes him incredibly difficult to investigate, which piqued the fear and interest of many others and made him seem like a mysterious and dreaded leader of an untouchable crime syndicate. He thinks that teenagers and adolescents are gullible and easy to manipulate since they are young, naive and believe everything they were told on the internet, and thus his brutal scams tend to prey on adolescents. He is so obsessed with money to the point that he even dedicates a briefcase that filled with a large amount of money which disturbs Ryuji Sakamoto and disgusts Makoto Niijima. Makoto, when the party fights him, even tells him to his face that he's "nothing but a disgusting fly swarming to dirty money" and a "money-grubbing asshole." In reality, Kaneshiro is a childish, pathetic and insecure man with an artificially engineered self-ego. He was born poor, which caused him to pick up a philosophy where selflessness is a weakness with no place in monetary matters. He is also very petty and will resort to blackmailing teenagers simply because he wants to go spending money for the sake of relieving anger. Furthermore, a close inspection of the money inside his briefcase reveals that they are actually fake money, further indicating that he is nothing other than a childish man running a massive criminal industry to artificially inflate his self-ego.
PERSONA5 the Animation
Ren Amamiya, a new transfer student at Shujin Academy, is sent to Tokyo to live with his family friend Sojiro Sakura after wrongly being put on probation for defending a woman from sexual assault. While on the way to attend his first day at his new school, Ren notices a strange app has appeared on his phone, transferring him to a world known as the Metaverse, which contains people's "shadows": distorted depictions of their true selves. In the Metaverse, he awakens his Persona, a power from deep within that gives him the strength to fight the shadows. With the help of similarly troubled students, he forms the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, attempting to save people from their sinful desires by "taking their heart," making evildoers regret their actions and turn over a new leaf. The group's reputation continues to grow explosively, bringing along fame both positive and negative. However, during the peak of their popularity, Ren gets captured and taken into custody. Here, he wakes up to a harsh interrogation, but this is cut short by the arrival of Sae Niijima—a prosecutor seeking answers. Just how will she react to his story, and what will become of the Phantom Thieves?
Persona 5 (Video Game)
Persona 5 is a role-playing video game developed by Atlus. The game is chronologically the sixth installment in the Persona series, which is part of the larger Megami Tensei franchise. It was released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in Japan in September 2016, and worldwide in April 2017, where it was published by Atlus in Japan and North America and by Deep Silver in Europe and Australia. An expanded version featuring new content, titled Persona 5 Royal, will be released in Japan in October 2019 and worldwide in 2020. Persona 5 takes place in modern-day Tokyo and follows the protagonist Joker following his transfer to Shujin Academy after being put on probation for an assault of which he was falsely accused. During the course of a school year, he and other students awaken to special powers, becoming a group of secret vigilantes known as the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. They explore the Metaverse, a supernatural realm born from humanity's subconscious desires, to steal malevolent intent from the hearts of adults. As with previous games in the series, the party battles enemies known as Shadows using physical manifestations of their psyche known as the Persona. The game incorporates role-playing and dungeon crawling elements alongside social simulation scenarios.
