Karen is a third-year student on the Machido High kendo team. Karen is a very timid person who becomes nervous easily, even when around people she knows well. Due to her anxiousness she is often seen shaking or trying to run away from stressful situations. Despite being the strongest on her team, she is afraid that it is rude to fight people she does not know. That, added to the pressure of wanting her team to win, causes her to be nervous and hesitate to attack during matches. However, if she is cornered, she instinctively switches to offense and reveals her top notch reflexes and skill.
