Kiriko Masaki is a main character in the Tenchi Muyo! GXP anime and Tenchi Muyo! GXP light novel series. She is a long-time friend of protagonist Seina Yamada and his family as well as a member of the Masaki Village on Earth. While Kiriko lives on Earth she leads a double life by working in space as an immigration officer for the Galaxy Police (GP). Her spacefaring life and membership to the GP is completely unknown to her family and peers on Earth (save for her mother and of-age members of the Masaki Village). Kiriko was born on Earth and grew up near Seina and his family. Having spent a great deal of time with Seina she came to have a sympathy for his accident prone nature and is the one, outside of his immediate family, most familiar with him and his tendency to get hurt due to his terrible luck (his own father describing him as an "unlucky runt.") Due to her close proximity and affection for him, Kiriko is fiercely protective of Seina and she does her best to keep him out of harms way. While at times she is successful, often she will find herself getting pulled into whatever unfortunate scenario has befallen Seina at the time.

Seina Yamada is incredibly unlucky; everything he touches is horribly destroyed. One day while visiting his sempai Tenchi's house, he is mistaken for the man by a member of the Galaxy Police Force and becomes inducted into the force. However, his terrible luck gives him an advantage in his new role: Seina encounters pirates at every turn, allowing his GXP comrades to capture many of the galaxy's worst criminals! Armed with a ship cloned from Ryo-Oh-Ki, Seina sets forth with his mostly female companions to defeat the sinister Barta pirates. Only one question remains: which is more important - capturing criminals or capturing hearts?
