Rifle, Caliber .30, M1
from Girls' Frontline
Origin
United States
The M1 Garand is a semi-automatic rifle designed in 1928 as a replacement to the M1903 Springfield, and named after designer John Garand. The M1 Garand saw extensive combat during the Second World War, and in the Korean and Vietnam War. Notable for being the first standard-issue semi-automatic military rifle, the M1's semi-automatic operation gave US infantrymen a significant advantage in firepower over other infantrymen of the time which were armed primarily with bolt-action rifles.
