Megakaryocyte (巨核球 Kyokakukyū?) is a minor character in Cells at Work!. She's a tall, heavyset woman with long hair who wears a cap, a t-shirt, sweater, and shorts. She's shown to be carrying a baby cell on her chest. Megakaryocyte's somewhat of a harsh commander to the platelets. She criticizes them and bribes them with medals to get them to accomplish a difficult task. However, it is shown that she cares about them when she encourages them and when she rewards them after a success.

Despite his dangerous line of work, it's all worth it to protect the happy smiles of Sekkekkyuu AE3803, the platelet crew, his fellow neutrophils, and the other cells he meets along the way. In his latest pathogen-hunting adventures, Hakkekkyuu U-1146 discovers how important cells can sometimes make mistakes, and that not all bacteria are actually bad. Everybody has their bad days, but everything eventually works out when their comrades have their backs. In the end, it's just another normal day for these hardworking cells!
