Megumi Amano is a student at Seisen Private High School where her childhood friend Manabu Shidare also attends. Though she has grown from a skinny tomboy to a beautiful, athletic young lady, Megumi doesn't seem to realize this and is full of "openings," to use kendo parlance - opportunities where she is accidentally showing more that she should. Unfortunately, this drives Manabu, who is obsessively studying to enter Tokyo University, to distraction, as he tries to protect Megumi from accidentally revealing too much to the world and grapples with the worldly desires breaking his concentration from his studies. Megumi is one of the leads on her school kendo team, having been recruited to her high school on a kendo recommendation. She has a number of friends through the kendo team and the school's sports course classes she is in. Megumi is a big eater with a weakness for sweets, and like many high school girls, subsequently worries about her weight (mostly any weight gain just seems to increase her bust). Megumi tends to like wearing mini-skirts and cute underwear, and has a tendancy to pop the buttons off her blouse. Megumi definitely likes Manabu, going out of her way to "coincidentally" run into him and even naming her dog, Gaku, after an alternative reading of his name. Those who know them see it and encourage it, but Megumi is shy and Manabu is dense - just like most light romantic comedies.
