Nanami Tsubomi is a minor character in Kakegurui. Nanami has short dark brown hair, that part of it is held on the right side of her head by pink hairband, and green-brownish eyes. She wears the standard female Hyakkaou Private Academy school uniform which consist of a red blazer with black trim on the cuffs and around the neck, and is decorated with gold buttons that is complete with a black tie. She wears a gray colored skirt with patterns on it, black colored panty hose, and brown loafers with black soles. She used to have very long, and wavy hair, but it was cut by Jun Kiwatari and his group, when they decided to bully her due to her status of being a housepet. At the beginning, Nanami is shown to be very quiet, shy, and quite anxious person. She is terrified of Jun Kiwatari to the point, where she is completely subordinated to him, being willed to lose her chance of paying her debt, and thereby regaining her status of normal student, and still being a housepet instead. After meeting Yumeko Jabami, who convince her that her submissiveness to unreasonable people like Jun is wrong, Nanami's personality has changed. She regained will of fighting for her own good, and stopped feels anger, sadness and dismay, while still being a nice and kind person.

Unlike many schools, attending Hyakkaou Private Academy prepares students for their time in the real world. Since many of the students are the children of the richest people in the world, the academy has its quirks that separate it from all the others. By day, it is a normal school, educating its pupils in history, languages, and the like. But at night, it turns into a gambling den, educating them in the art of dealing with money and manipulating people. Money is power; those who come out on top in the games stand at the top of the school. Yumeko Jabami, a seemingly naive and beautiful transfer student, is ready to try her hand at Hyakkaou's special curriculum. Unlike the rest, she doesn't play to win, but for the thrill of the gamble, and her borderline insane way of gambling might just bring too many new cards to the table.
