Ogami is a minor antagonist in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. She was a curse user who worked with Jiro Awasaka in the past to make money, but their freedom to commit crimes and cursed people stopped with Satoru Gojo's birth. Determined to reclaim their past lives, Ogami, Awasaka, and her grandson aligned themselves with Pseudo-Geto during the Shibuya Incident. Ogami was eighty-one years old and nicknamed Granny Ogami for her elderly appearance. She was an old woman with many wrinkles and her eyes were almost always shut. She had light-colored hair tied into a maru-mage bun with an accessory placed on it. As of 2018, Granny Ogami wore a light-colored kimono haori combination decorated with dark lines across the shoulders. It also includes a "JJ" circle symbol on the back. Ogami completes her out with a dark sash and normal sandals. She also always carried her prayer beads with her for jujutsu as well. Ogami was an evil old woman, but was quite tame compared to Awasaka. She did her work to get paid and live freely, nothing more. She hardly speaks or opens her eyes the majority of the time. Like Awasaka, she was upset her freedom was taken away by the presence of Satoru Gojo and decided to work together with other curse users to get rid of him. Ogami doesn't appear to have any sympathy for others. Her old jobs involved killing people to use for her technique that didn't directly involve them in the assassination. Additionally, she used her grandson as just a vessel for her ability and showed no concern when he was being injured in their fight with Takuma Ino.

Idly indulging in baseless paranormal activities with the Occult Club, high schooler Yuuji Itadori spends his days at either the clubroom or the hospital, where he visits his bedridden grandfather. However, this leisurely lifestyle soon takes a turn for the strange when he unknowingly encounters a cursed item. Triggering a chain of supernatural occurrences, Yuuji finds himself suddenly thrust into the world of Curses—dreadful beings formed from human malice and negativity—after swallowing the said item, revealed to be a finger belonging to the demon Sukuna Ryoumen, the "King of Curses." Yuuji experiences first-hand the threat these Curses pose to society as he discovers his own newfound powers. Introduced to the Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu Technical High School, he begins to walk down a path from which he cannot return—the path of a Jujutsu sorcerer.

When high school student Yuuji Itadori finds a dried-up finger of the legendary Curse Sukuna Ryoumen, he suddenly finds himself joining this bloody conflict. Attacked by a Curse attracted to the finger's power, Yuuji makes a reckless decision to protect himself, gaining the power to combat Curses in the process but also unwittingly unleashing the malicious Sukuna into the world once more. Though Yuuji can control and confine Sukuna to his own body, the Jujutsu world classifies Yuuji as a dangerous, high-level Curse who must be exterminated. Detained and sentenced to death, Yuuji meets Satoru Gojou—a teacher at Jujutsu High School—who explains that despite his imminent execution, there is an alternative for him. Being a rare vessel to Sukuna, if Yuuji were to die, then Sukuna would perish too. Therefore, if Yuuji were to consume the many other remnants of Sukuna, then Yuuji's subsequent execution would truly eradicate the malicious demon. Taking up this chance to make the world safer and live his life for a little longer, Yuuji enrolls in Jujutsu High, jumping headfirst into a harsh and unforgiving battlefield.
