Ran Tsukikage is a wandering female samurai who often describes herself as a "Beautiful woman". She is extremely skilled with the katana and is practically unbeatable. The only thing that matches her skill with the sword is her craving for sake (rice wine). All we know about her past is that she learned the way of the sword from a samurai named Junzaburo Shiina. Apparently, this Shiina also gave Ran her first taste of sake. Shiina and Ran once had a relationship, but have since parted ways. These days, Ran is often joined by Meow [Myao].

Carried by the Wind: Tsukikage Ran
In the Edo or Tokugawa period (1600–1868), Ran, a female wandering samurai whose skill with the katana is only matched by her taste for sake (rice wine), is joined by a chinese martial artist who calls herself Lady Meow of the Iron Cat Fist. Tsukikage Ran has individual episodes that are just short stories of their adventures.
