Shinya Oda is a character from Persona 5. He is one of the best players of the arcade game "Gun About." Shinya is usually seen as reserved, if not introverted, primarily due to his mother's aggressive and argumentative nature with his school. His actions had led many of the kids at his school to bully him, which he calls a "war" he must win. While playing Gun About, he is focused and sharp, and has never lost a game until being beaten by the current gaming champion due to a cheat. However, when playing with others, Shinya swears up a storm, which he admits is both a habit and problem for him. Shinya greatly admires the Phantom Thieves of Hearts due to the fact that they challenge those who abuse their power, and is an avid supporter, even after the death of Kunikazu Okumura, which they are framed for. During his Confidant, Shinya comes to see the protagonist as an older brother-like figure, which then becomes great admiration when he figures out that he is a member of the Phantom Thieves.
Persona 5 (Video Game)
Persona 5 is a role-playing video game developed by Atlus. The game is chronologically the sixth installment in the Persona series, which is part of the larger Megami Tensei franchise. It was released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in Japan in September 2016, and worldwide in April 2017, where it was published by Atlus in Japan and North America and by Deep Silver in Europe and Australia. An expanded version featuring new content, titled Persona 5 Royal, will be released in Japan in October 2019 and worldwide in 2020. Persona 5 takes place in modern-day Tokyo and follows the protagonist Joker following his transfer to Shujin Academy after being put on probation for an assault of which he was falsely accused. During the course of a school year, he and other students awaken to special powers, becoming a group of secret vigilantes known as the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. They explore the Metaverse, a supernatural realm born from humanity's subconscious desires, to steal malevolent intent from the hearts of adults. As with previous games in the series, the party battles enemies known as Shadows using physical manifestations of their psyche known as the Persona. The game incorporates role-playing and dungeon crawling elements alongside social simulation scenarios.
