Shizuku Ninomiya (二ノ宮 雫 Ninomiya Shizuku) is one of the secondary characters of the Kyoukai no Kanata series. She is a Spirit World Warrior well-versed in hand-to-hand combat. She’s a beautiful, lighthearted person, she has quite a few lamentable qualities for which men often reject her. The dresses she wears to dates are especially lamentable. Shizuku is a pretty young woman; she has fairly long, light brown hair, ending at just a little above her hips. She is seen either with her hair out or tied up into a ponytail. She also has brown eyes with a glint of a golden color to them. Her first outfit, when seen attacking a youmu, consisted of a grey-ish beige jacket with a matching skirt to go with it. She wore a striped blue shirt underneath the jacket and she wore black stockings and black shoes. Shizuku is quite a cheerful person and is pretty upbeat. She is mostly ever seen smiling, even when she is first seen running into the classroom where the youmu she was chasing is located in, and where Kuriyama and Akithito were, and kicking it in the face. She is merciless, however, when finally defeating youmu and possesses amazing skill along with excellent hand-to-hand combat. Shizuku is also a bit of a drinker, as seen in episode 5 when she treats Mitsuki and Kuriyama to some food with the money she got when she traded in the rock left by the youmu Kuriyama defeated, which was worth 50,000 yen. Shizuku is seen drinking beer and asks the waiter for more beer. When the waiter comes back with more beer for her, she claims that he took to long and demands more beer 'on the house'. Also, at one point, she is seen on her laptop with a can of beer in her hand. She also seems to grow pretty upset when things don't go as planned, as seen also in episode 5 when she is heading to the festival in a flashy dress, saying that she was planning to meet up with a guy. The guy then texts her that he, in fact, couldn't come after all, leaving her to sit alone and upset as the fireworks were going off.
Beyond the Boundary
Mirai Kuriyama is the sole survivor of a clan of Spirit World warriors with the power to employ their blood as weapons. As such, Mirai is tasked with hunting down and killing "youmu"—creatures said to be the manifestation of negative human emotions. One day, while deep in thought on the school roof, Mirai comes across Akihito Kanbara, a rare half-breed of youmu in human form. In a panicked state, she plunges her blood saber into him only to realize that he's an immortal being. From then on, the two form an impromptu friendship that revolves around Mirai constantly trying to kill Akihito, in an effort to boost her own wavering confidence as a Spirit World warrior. Eventually, Akihito also manages to convince her to join the Literary Club, which houses two other powerful Spirit World warriors, Hiroomi and Mitsuki Nase. As the group's bond strengthens, however, so does the tenacity of the youmu around them. Their misadventures will soon turn into a fight for survival as the inevitable release of the most powerful youmu, Beyond the Boundary, approaches.
