Sonia Belmont (ソニア・ベルモンド Sonia Berumondo?, Sonia Belmondo) is a vampire huntress who lived in the 15th Century and renowned for being the first member of the Belmont Clan, a family of noble lineage destined to become legendary. She was born with the ability to sense the presence of spiritual beings that cannot be seen by ordinary human beings. Sonia was taught how to wield a whip by her grandfather.

Castlevania: Hymn of Blood is an interpretation of a possible backstory for Simon Belmont, the protagonist of the Castlevania video games. It should come as a relief to old-school gamers that the serialized story seems to focus more on references and lore from the three NES games, rather than anything from the more recent (and terrible) games.
