Benedetta grew up the daughter of young Italian magicians - Aldo & Corazon Gaetani (The Great Gaetani). They took the magic world by storm, but his act was much about Corazon's beauty as Aldo's deft touch. Benedetta suffered from the attentions of her mother, who was intensely disappointed with her shy, gawky daughter. Nemesis was originally the sole being in all of existence. Out of loneliness, this cosmic being took part of itself and gave it independent life; however, because the entity didn't know good nor evil, and thus didn't will its creations to be good, they turned out to be evil. Displeased with its creations, the entity destroyed them.
