Valerie is the Gym Leader of Laverre City's Gym, known officially as the Laverre Gym. She specializes in Fairy-type Pokémon. She gives the Fairy Badge to Trainers who defeat her. Valerie is an exotic fashion designer who appreciates all that is beauty, especially that of the fae, to the point of modeling herself after one. As an effect, she is known for her strange, mystifying appearance. She is most known for her deep-black eyes, giving her a soul-piercing gaze, but they are likely special eye contacts. She wears a very tight corset on her waist, with massive sleaves that resemble a wing-span. It is noted that her outfit weighs a total of 33 pounds, and coupled with the fact she wears high platform heels, she is very dedicated to her task! Even though she is a Gym leader in Kalos, Valerie actually originates from Johto. This is especially noted in how she speaks in a Kyoto dialect, which residents of Ecruteak City often speak in.

Pokemon are peculiar creatures with a vast array of different abilities and appearances; many people, known as Pokemon trainers, capture and train them, often with the intent of battling others. But danger lurks around every corner. The infamous Team Rocket is always nearby, seeking to steal powerful Pokemon through nefarious schemes. It'll be up to Satoshi and his friends to thwart their efforts as he also strives to earn the eight Pokemon Gym Badges he'll need to challenge the Pokemon League, and eventually claim the title of Pokemon Master.
