Yukari is an attractive 32-year-old divorced woman who is Kouki's mother. She has wavy hair that is approximately shoulder length and black eyes. Yukari is a very kind woman that helps others. She is often seen with a smile on her face. She cares deeply for her son and remained unmarried for years just to look after him. She helps Daikichi whenever he's troubled concerning on how to take care of Rin, being his only and abrupt child. She willingly takes good care of Rin whenever she's needed and acts very motherly towards her. Yukari seemed to have developed feelings for Daikichi throughout the series, however, she didn't accept Daikichi's proposal. This was because at the time, Kouki was undergoing a period of delinquency, and she was afraid that moving in together could be dangerous for Rin, and she wouldn't be able to forgive herself if anything untoward happened to her.

Going home for his grandfather's funeral, thirty-year-old bachelor Daikichi is surprised to discover that the old man had an illegitimate child with a younger lover! The rest of his family doesn't want anything to do with the silent little girl, Rin. In a fit of angry spontaneity, Daikichi decides to take her in himself.
