Zeno is Zatch Bell's twin brother and is partnered with the human Dufort. When Zatch and Zeno were born, their father - the Mamodo King at that time - possessed the power of Bao. Zatch inherited the power of Bao, as Bao loathes dark and evil souls and would consume those that could not control these dark compulsions. While Zatch was sent away to live like a commoner, Zeno was subjected to draconian military training. He eventually learned of Zatch's existence and resented that Zatch had inherited Bao, believing that Zatch wouldn't understand the great power he held. Zeno was quick to locate a bookkeeper in Dufort and tracked down his twin brother, locating him in an English forest living peacefully with the animals there. Without so much as a word to his brother, Zeno attacked his twin brother. Rather than burn Zatch's book so he could return home to live peacefully in the Mamodo World, Zeno maliciously chose to wipe out Zatch's memories so he would be lost and confused in the human world. Unfortunately for Zeno, Zatch was located by Seitaro Takamine, who sent Zatch to live with his son Kiyo in Japan.
