Baret is a first-rank angel and is the Angel of Knowledge. She is one of the thirteen angels and selected Nanato Mukaido as her god candidate. __Appearance__ She is portrayed as a long, white haired angel, green eyes, with short bangs and a monocle on her left eye, her halo is light teal color, her wings are located on her waist flowing like a long skirt and she is seen using golden clips in her hair. __Personality__ Baret is a kind, soft-spoken, intellectual being. She is known as the Angel of Knowledge. According to Revel, she knows "all kinds of Heavenly knowledge gleaned from history", she is "very learned, but not without flaws". She is willing to share her wisdom, and information regarding celestial beings and rules to other god candidates, if that is her own candidate's wish.

After the death of his parents, a young Mirai Kakehashi is left in the care of his abusive relatives. Since then, he has become gloomy and depressed, leading him to attempt suicide on the evening of his middle school graduation. Mirai, however, is saved by a pure white girl named Nasse who introduces herself as a guardian angel wishing to give him happiness—by granting him supernatural powers and a chance to become the new God. In order to earn the position, he must defeat 12 other "God Candidates" within 999 days. Soon, Mirai begins a struggle to survive as a terrifying battle royale erupts between himself and the candidates looking to obtain the most power in the world.

Mirai Kakehashi is a young student fed up with a life of abuse from his uncle and aunt who raised him since his parents' death, but is saved by a Guardian Angel called Nasse after attempting to commit suicide. Upon learning from Nasse that his foster parents were responsible for the deaths of his father and mother, Mirai uses the powers she bestowed him in order to confront them and enact justice. However, Mirai's ordeals are just beginning as Nasse soon after informs him that God will retire in 999 days and thirteen candidates to replace him were selected including Mirai himself. To make matters worse, not only can Mirai not refuse to take part in the contest to decide the next God, but among the other candidates there are those capable of anything to win, including killing all the competition as soon as possible.
