Barnes is a manufacturer, seller, and buyer of bombs that lives in Kakariko Village. Timid and cowardly at times, he will bring his face guard down the minute something frightens him. He is one of Kakariko's only survivors after the village was cloaked within Twilight. Hiding within the Sanctuary with Renado and the village children, Barnes recounts his unsuccessful attempt to scare the Shadow Beasts away with a bomb and correctly deduced that being caught by the beasts would lead to him becoming one of them.
